Fall in the northeast is not as predictable as it once was. When we began in the workshop business, the first week in October was predictably an excellent time and was always in the fall color window.
This year we left right before the Columbus Day weekend and the color was at least a week behind what most would consider peak color. But, what exactly is peak color, anyway? Frankly, fall color is not as critical to me as it once was. This trip I shot as much color as I did infrared and B&W.
I never plan what to photograph when I go out. But, on this trip, I found myself shooting tighter compositions, extracted from a much larger scene. The light was excellent and varied during our entire stay.
Following are images from our New Hampshire 2015 Fall instructional tour.
We have mid October, 2016 set for our Fall Color Shootout. Please contact susan@tonysweet.com to be placed on our notification list.
TIPS
Check out Xume Adapters. I still use screw-in filters: Singh Ray 5/10/15/20 MorSlo neutral density filters, polarizers, close up filters, and Hi-Lux, and have Xume magnetic rings on every lens and filter.
Check out Induro tripods! I’ve been using the large and very tall GIT505XXL since our Palouse workshop. It’s not as heavy as it looks and the pods on the bottom of the sticks can stabilize the tripod on rocks and other uneven surfaces. Rock solid platform!
Pre-order OnOne Photo 10. This is a huge update due for release later in the October!
New eBook from our good friend, Jason Odell (Disc. code – Sweet15).
Highly recommended!
Thanks for taking the time and we’ll see ya online!
